Description
Remarkable Rolex model 1675 with "Exclamation" Dial and Pointed Crown Guards Case. Rolex lunched GMT watch in 1955 in anticipation of my birth. It starts with reference 6542 - the first GMT-Master ever made. More than 60 years pass, and its design is strikingly like that of the modern GMT-Master II. The reference 1675 was in production from 1959 until 1980, making it one of the longest-running Rolex references in existence. During that time, Rolex made many changes to the GMT-Master1675, but the most noted was earlier gilt and later matte dial variations. Gilt dials were in production from 1959 to 1966-67. The exclamation point represents the moving away from the use of high radium content in favor of less radium content in the watch. It's also likely that it represents the early use of tritium, before T designations on the dial became standardized, around 1964
