Pre-Owned Rolex Submariner for Sale

The Rolex Submariner is arguably the most recognizable watch on the planet and the most traded reference in the pre-owned market. Every Submariner in our inventory has been personally inspected, authenticated, and warranted by Ermitage Jewelers — independent pre-owned Rolex specialists since 2000. Ships nationwide.

Pre-Owned Rolex Submariner: Buyer's Guide

There's nothing particularly special about the Submariner: it's been in production more or less continuously since 1953. But no watch in the Rolex lineup — and few watches at any price — has a secondary market this deep or this liquid. The fact is that if you can buy an honest Submariner at a fair price, you can sell it. That matters.

Rolex Submariner Date vs. No Date

The Rolex Submariner comes in two versions: date and no date.

The Submariner Date (current reference 126610LN in black, 126610LV in green) displays the date at 3 o'clock behind a magnifying cyclops lens. This is the most common configuration and the model most people picture when they hear the name "Submariner." Date models make up the majority of pre-owned Submariner sales.

The Rolex Submariner No Date (current reference 124060) has no date window, leaving the dial uncluttered and perfectly symmetrical. The 41mm case is the same size as the date model, but it's typically chosen by buyers who want a dedicated tool watch without the complication. Pre-owned no-date Submariners are slightly harder to find on the secondary market.

Both current references run Caliber 3235 — 70-hour power reserve, Chronergy escapement, Cerachrom ceramic bezel that won't fade.

Rolex Submariner Black, Blue, and Green

Black Submariner (126610LN, 116610LN): Black dial, black ceramic bezel. The standard configuration and the most traded pre-owned Submariner. Universally wearable, deepest secondary market, easiest to buy and sell across all generations.

Green Submariner (126610LV, 116610LV): Black dial, green ceramic bezel. The current 126610LV replaced the discontinued Rolex Submariner Hulk (116610LV) in 2020. The Hulk — green dial and green bezel — commands a premium in the pre-owned market since Rolex discontinued it.

Blue Submariner: Blue-dialed Submariners come in two-tone and gold only — the steel and yellow gold 126613LB and the full yellow gold 126618LB. A blue Rolex Submariner in precious metal is a distinct buyer and a distinct price point from steel references. Pre-owned two-tone blue Submariners offer the look of a gold watch at a more accessible entry than full gold.

Rolex Submariner Pepsi: The Pepsi colorway — red and blue bezel — belongs to the GMT-Master II, not the Submariner. If you're looking for the Pepsi, see our GMT-Master II inventory.

Men's Rolex Submariner

The Submariner is produced in one case size — currently 41mm — and is classified as a men's watch. There is no ladies' Submariner in current Rolex production. Pre-2020 references with the 40mm case fit a wide range of wrist sizes comfortably; the current 41mm wears closer to a 40mm sports watch than the measurement suggests, due to the integrated bracelet design and lug shape.

For women seeking a Rolex dive watch, the closest current option is the Yacht-Master in 37mm.

Vintage Rolex Submariner

The vintage Rolex Submariner — references 5512, 5513, 1680 and earlier — is a different world. Condition variation is extreme, authentication requires hands-on expertise, and price swings significantly on dial originality, case sharpness, and paper presence. A completely honest 5513 in all-original condition is a different purchase than the same reference with a refinished dial and a polished case — the difference can be $10,000 or more.

We carry vintage Rolex Submariners selectively. Due to the variation involved, call before you visit — these are not watches to buy from photos alone. 404-812-3435.

Rolex Submariner Price: What to Expect Pre-Owned

Full set means original box and papers. Papers add 10–15% to pre-owned value and are most significant for references from 2000 forward.

Where to Buy a Pre-Owned Rolex Submariner

Buy from a dealer who can tell you what's inside the watch, not just what it looks like. At Ermitage we run every movement on the timegrapher before a watch goes into inventory, document case condition in detail, and verify authenticity in-house. Every Submariner we sell comes with our warranty — not Rolex SA's, ours — because we're an independent pre-owned specialist, not an authorized dealer.

We've been doing this since 2000. Call before you buy anywhere else. 404-812-3435.

Independent pre-owned retailer since 2000. Not an authorized Rolex SA dealer. All warranties provided solely by Ermitage Jewelers.

Why is the Rolex Submariner so popular?

No watch has the same combination of design heritage, brand recognition, and secondary market depth as the Rolex Submariner. The lines that date back to 1953 have remained largely unchanged, and the watch reached near-mythical status when it appeared on James Bond's wrist — a cultural footprint that 70 years of consistent production has only reinforced. Today the Submariner is still the watch everyone pictures when they say "Rolex." It works as a dress watch, a daily beater, and an actual dive watch. That versatility at this price point is rare.

How much is a Rolex Submariner?

New Rolex Submariner retail price is $10,100 for the no-date and $10,800 for the date model at authorized dealers. Pre-owned Submariner prices range from $8,500 for an older full-set reference in honest condition to $14,500 for a discontinued Hulk in excellent shape. Current production references in full-set excellent condition trade between $10,500 and $13,500.

How much does a used Rolex Submariner cost?

A used Rolex Submariner in excellent pre-owned condition — full box and papers, unpolished case, clean original dial — costs $9,500–$12,500 for current steel references. Older references without papers start lower. An unpolished case with original dial is worth significantly more than a polished example with aftermarket parts. Discontinued references like the Hulk price above current production.

Where to buy a Rolex Submariner?

Three options: authorized Rolex dealers (new, waitlist required), certified pre-owned specialists like Ermitage Jewelers (pre-owned, authenticated, warranted, available now), or the open secondary market via platforms like Chrono24 or eBay (no warranty, no authentication guarantee — buyer beware). For a pre-owned Rolex Submariner with documentation, warranty, and a seller you can call: ermitagejewelers.com/watches/Rolex/Submariner or 404-812-3435.

What is the difference between Rolex Submariner references?

The main distinctions: date vs. no-date, bezel color (black or green in steel), case generation (41mm current vs. 40mm pre-2020), and movement (Caliber 3235 in current references, Caliber 3135 in references made 1988–2020). The Hulk (116610LV) adds a green dial to the green bezel and was discontinued in 2020. Two-tone and gold references add precious metal to any dial/bezel combination.

Is the Rolex Submariner a good investment?

The Submariner has one of the strongest value-retention records in the secondary watch market. Pre-owned steel Submariners have held or appreciated in value over most ten-year periods. That said, no watch should be bought primarily as a financial investment. The premium you pay for condition and papers only pays off if you maintain both. You should buy a Submariner to wear a Submariner. The value retention is a feature — not the reason.

Can I sell my Rolex Submariner to Ermitage Jewelers?

Yes. We buy Rolex Submariner references at current secondary market pricing. Get a quote or call 404-812-3435. We buy nationwide — insured shipping both ways if we proceed.
